March 31, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! He is Risen! Happy Easter! May this Easter season fill your hearts with happiness and your home with joy and love with friends and family. The first regular meeting of the month will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at Waveland City Hall. Here is the agenda and accompanying information packet for your convenience. Please attend if you can, but alternatively, you can watch on the city YouTube channel. After you have had time to review the agenda and packet, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Food Truck Friday is April 5th. Please come out and enjoy the good food and meet everyone. The second regular meeting of the month will be April 17th. I will provide you with that information in my April 14th newsletter. Harbor Freight is coming along very quickly and should be open in about a month. Things are looking good for Waveland! It is truly my honor and pleasure to serve you and all of Waveland, and I truly appreciate your continued support. If I can assist you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
March 24, 2024 Good Morning Everyone, The next Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting is scheduled for April 2, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. The agenda and accompanying packet will be provided in my next email on March 31st. I was again asked this week about the status of the pier. Unfortunately, the response has not changed. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place waiting on MEMA and FEMA. Of course, if the City had $1.2+ to gamble with, we could move forward with repairs. Mayor Trapani is working diligently in an attempt to remedy this problem. Rest assured, the moment there is news to report, it will be shared. This has been a very eventful month. I am so very excited that we can now speak about the new Marriot's Fairfield and Towneplace Suites hotel coming to Waveland! Many months ago, this project was brought to the Mayor and Board by Blaine LaFontaine, Hancock County Port & Harbor Executive Director, and the developer. This is a huge step forward for Waveland! In 2022, the City contracted for and obtained a plan to Restore Hwy. 90. We have a prime opportunity now to kick that plan into high gear. I have also approached the Hancock County Board of Supervisors to step up their efforts in their jurisdiction leading into Waveland. At the last Mayor and Board meeting, we hired Mr. Chris Carter as the new building official. The additional expertise in this department lends to a more efficient and productive department and allows for better code enforcement, as our City is growing. If you have any concerns or comments, please remember you can reach me best by email or text. You can also report issues on my website. I pray you all have a wonderful Holy Week and Easter.
March 17, 2024 The second regular meeting of the month will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at Waveland City Hall. Here is the agenda and accompanying information packet for your convenience. Please attend if you can, but alternatively, you can watch on the city YouTube channel. After you have had time to review the agenda and packet, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
March 10, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! A special meeting was called for Thursday, March 14th, at 5:30 p.m.. At the time of this email, I do not have an agenda. Please check the city website for an agenda. The second regular meeting of the month will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at Waveland City Hall. The agenda and packet for that meeting will be sent to you in my March 17th newsletter. If you missed any of the past meetings, you can watch them on the city YouTube channel. This month my first article for Waveland was published in the Shoofly Magazine, which you can find at bslshoofly.com. For your calendar: Don't forget time changed last night! (March 10th at 2:00 a.m. Time Change - Spring Forward) March 12th - Primary Election. You will be voting at your county precinct - NOT at the Waveland Fire Department on Coleman. (Sample ballots are attached) March 16th 1:00 p.m. Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade (See Flyer attached for details) March 23rd 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event (See Flyer attached for details) March 24th 1:00 p.m. Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by City of Waveland and American Legion Post #77 (See Flyer below for details) The next Hancock County Board of Supervisors meeting is Monday, March 18th at 9 a.m. Their agenda is not out yet for that meeting. Please visit https://hancockcounty.ms.gov/217/Board-of-Supervisors for further information on the BoS. At their meeting on March 4th, the BoS approved the contract for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. This is a very expensive event that the county provides twice a year. Please see the attached flyer for that event and proceed accordingly. They will only be open from 8 p.m. to noon, and there is usually a large volume turned in, so you may want to plan on having a slight wait. They are very efficient and move quickly, so it won't take too long. Last week was a very hectic, but productive, week. While in Jackson, I met with all of our representatives and senators for our area. They are impressed with what we are doing in Waveland and are anxious to help us move forward. We are working on getting funding for infrastructure projects, and are discussing numerous other projects. These relationships are vital to Waveland's success. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need my assistance. It is best to reach me by text or email. This gives me a written record of your issue. I am not always able to answer my phone, but if you text me your name and issue, I will call you back. Please encourage your neighbors and friends to sign up for my newsletter. This is the best and most efficient way to provide current and accurate information. There are some very exciting things coming that I can't wait to tell you about when I'm able. It is truly my honor and pleasure to serve you and our wonderful city. Thank you for your continued support.
March 4, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! I just wanted to send you a quick note to remind you that tonight is the Congressional Candidates Forum at the American Legion Post #77 at 503 Waveland Avenue. This promises to be very informative. You will have an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their platforms. They will be asked to answer some very important questions, and will not know what they are going to be asked until the questions are read to them during the forum. This is an important election, and I encourage you to attend if you can. If not, it will be live-streamed on Facebook on the Hancock County Republican Women's Club page. Below is a copy of the flyer for this event, which lists the candidates who have confirmed their attendance. Please make sure you read my article in Shoofly Magazine, which will be out later this week. Each month I will introduce you to an outstanding city employee. Once the article is published, I will send you a link. Additionally, I wanted to bring you up to date on a couple of projects going on in the city right now. Please make sure you read my article in Shoofly Magazine, which will be out later this week. The Pier: As many of you know, we went out for bids for the repairs on the pier, all of which came in over $1 million above the FEMA-approved amount. We have gone back to FEMA in an attempt to get them to raise the outdated approved repair amount. Once we know what will happen in this regard, we will let you know. So far, the only response we have received is that the amount will be adjusted at the end of the project. That is a huge risk to the city and taxpayers if we have to come up with the approximate $1.2 million and wait to hope that FEMA decides at the end of the project to refund us the money considering we are already operating on a very tight budget. McAlisters: They are still coming. We do not have any word yet on when. Right now we only know they are still planning on opening in Waveland in the old Riteaid building. Harbor Freight: They are currently taking applications and are diligently preparing the building, which is in Choctaw Plaza next to Dirt Cheap. They are expected to open within about 8 weeks. Express Oil Change: This is a new business going in at the traffic light entrance of Wal-Mart. Stay tuned for more information. Tendga Asian Garden: This is a hibachi and sushi restaurant opening in the old Hancock Bank building. We do not have an anticipated open date yet. This is going to be a great addition to the culinary scene in Waveland. Thank you for your continued support and for allowing me to serve you and the City of Waveland.
March 3, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! The first regular meeting of the month will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at Waveland City Hall. Here is the agenda and accompanying information packet for your convenience. You are encouraged to attend, but in the alternative, you can watch on the city YouTube channel. After you have had time to review the agenda and packet, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I will be in Jackson on March 5th & 6th for a legislative reception and will be attending the city meeting by phone. The second regular meeting of the Board is on Wednesday, March 20th. The agenda and packet for that meeting will be sent to you in my February 17th newsletter . Beginning in March, I will be writing an article for Waveland to be published in the Shoofly Magazine, which you can find at bslshoofly.com. A few other things are happening this month that you should put on your calendar: March 4th U.S. House and Senate Candidate Forum at American Legion Post #77 at 5:30 p.m. (See Flyer attached for details) March 8th Food Truck Friday will begin at 5:00 p.m. March 10th 2:00 a.m. Time Change - Spring Forward! March 16th 1:00 p.m. Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade (See Flyer attached for details) March 23rd 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event (See Flyer attached for details) March 24th 1:00 p.m. Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by City of Waveland and American Legion Post #77 (See Flyer below for details) For those of you who are not aware, Hancock County Board of Supervisors has jurisdiction over Beach Boulevard and the sand beaches. There are a number of services the BoS control that are provided in Waveland, such as ambulance services and mosquito control. The ambulance contract is up this fiscal year, so that is one issue in particular to watch. AMR is the current provider, but have lost their contract in Gulfport. My opinion is that it is highly likely they will lose their contract here in Hancock County as well. If you are interested in their meetings, they meet twice a month - on the first and third Mondays with exceptions for holidays. Please visit https://hancockcounty.ms.gov/217/Board-of-Supervisors for further information on the BoS. It is wise to keep an eye on every agency that affects our community. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Our current Mayor and Board have been in office now for a full fourteen months. There is still, and always will be, so much to do. I have often heard about so many people in political office who are seen a lot during the campaign and then not so much while they are in office. Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but rest assured that I am keenly aware of this fact and I am planning to visit soon. It is truly a time-consuming process to stay on top of the issues, field resident concerns and issues, and promote and represent our community locally and throughout the state. It is for these reasons, if your elected representative is committed, that you don't get to see them much after election. I have attempted to give you every opportunity to reach me if you need to. Sometimes it is overwhelming and there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day, so if for some reason you don't hear back from me right away, know that I am aware and am working on your issue. It is best, if you have the ability, to reach me by text or email. This gives me a written record of your issue. It is truly my honor and pleasure to serve you and our wonderful city. Thank you for your continued support. If I can assist you, please let me know.
February 25, 2024 Good Morning Everyone, The next Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting is scheduled for March 5th. The agenda and packet will not be available until next week. I will provide the links to this information in my next newsletter. I will not be at the next meeting, as I will be in Jackson for a legislative reception, but will attend by telephone. Below is a flyer regarding the forum being held at American Legion Post #77 on Waveland Avenue with the Congressional candidates. They are asking that you submit questions to them in advance. Please give that some consideration and submit your questions to them before Wednesday. If you have ventured out in that direction, you will see that Harbour Freight is diligently working on getting their new store open. We are all looking forward to that. I will keep you posted on an expected opening date. Should you have any concerns or need my assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is a LINK on my website to report an issue or you can email me. You can always text or call me as well. Thank you for your continued support! Please have a safe and blessed week.
February 18, 2024 Good Morning Everyone, The next Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting is scheduled for 2/21/2024 at 6:30 p.m. Please review the agenda and accompanying packet. If you have any concerns or comments you would like to share with me prior to the meeting, please either send me an email, text or call at your convenience. As usual, if you are unable to attend the meeting, you can watch it live or at your convenience on our YouTube channel. I have been asked this week about the status on the pier. At our last meeting on February 6th, the city engineer was asked for a status. If you have any questions about the transcript on the subject of the pier below from the minutes of that meeting, please contact me: • The Mayor asked Mr. Chiniche if he had heard anything about the pier. Mr. Chiniche said he had met with Mike Seiler with MEMA and we know the bids came in October ’23. They were higher that FEMA’s estimates, so Chiniche’s staff submitted documentation to them (FEMA) for review and asked them to adjust the cost analysis that they had prepared. He said they’ve not heard much back from them so while Mr. Chiniche was in Jackson, he met with Mr. Siler, who stated from his experience what is usually done is FEMA usually adjusts to cost at close out; historically this is what they do. Mr. Chiniche said he’s seen that as long as the scope of the work that was laid out in the PW is followed, there would be no reason for them to deobligate the funds. Mr. Chiniche said when he did his inspection, he noted some additional asphalt and additional items that needed to be included for the repair, so the necessary paperwork for that was submitted. At this point, it’s a waiting game. The mayor said he called Congressman Ezell’s office to ask for a timeline as to when a decision may be reached and he was told they would move it to the front as much as they could, but still do not have a definite date. Over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of rain. There has been standing water in streets, yards, etc. that have been taking longer to drain. A number of the issues we have been seeing at residences have been caused by neighbors filling in swales and other areas of water collection and/or drainage, which are causing water retention on neighboring properties. Please consider these collateral consequences when doing such work on your property. Should you have any concerns or need my assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is a LINK on my website to report an issue or you can email me. You can always text or call me as well. Please have a safe and blessed week.
February 11, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! I hope you have had a fun and safe Mardi Gras. February 14th is Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day. For those of you who recognize Ash Wednesday and Lent, I pray for your steadfastness to your sacrifices, deepened enlightenment in the passion of Christ, and a constant remembrance of His humility for our imitation of Him during these 40 days of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. It is quite appropriate that the ultimate display of love, which begins on Ash Wednesday and is perfected on Easter Sunday, is on the feast of St. Valentine - Valentine's Day. The city offices will be closed on Tuesday, February 13th in observance of Mardi Gras, and then again on Monday, February 19th in observance of President's Day. Please remember to fill out the "Report an Issue" on my website or on the City's website as soon as you see a problem. It is difficult to know where all of the issues are in the city when they occur. You are our first line of sight and I greatly appreciate you helping us stay on top of the issues. The next Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting is Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30. I will forward you the agenda and associated packet as soon as it is available. Have a fun and safe Fat Tuesday! Thank you for your continued support,
February 4, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! Today is the Nereids parade. We will have thousands of visitors in town today, and most will be concentrated on Highway 90. If you do not plan to attend the parade, but have to venture out, please be careful and try to avoid Highway 90. The first regular meeting of the month will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Waveland City Hall. Here is the agenda and accompanying information packet for your convenience. You are encouraged to attend, but in the alternative, you can watch on the city YouTube channel. After you have had time to review the agenda and packet, please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. The second regular meeting of the Board is on Wednesday, February 21st. The agenda and packet for that meeting will be sent to you in my February 18th newsletter . I would like to wish you and your families and very safe and Happy Mardi Gras. It is my honor and pleasure to serve you and our wonderful city. Thank you for your continued support. If I can assist you, please let me know.
January 28, 2024 Good Morning Everyone, The next Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting is scheduled for February 6th. The agenda and packet will not be available until next week. I will provide the links to this information in my next newsletter. Last week I told you a little bit about our neighborhood watch program. Many of you, especially those in Ward 1, are already participating, but for those who are not, please consider getting involved. This program is keeping neighborhoods safe in a number of very important ways. In addition to keeping an eye out for crime and suspicious activity, it is keeping everyone informed regarding any important issue that affects the entire neighborhood. If you do not have a block captain for your neighborhood yet, please consider volunteering or speak to one of your neighbors who may be interested in doing so. This will take very little of your time but have a huge impact in keeping your neighborhood safe and informed. We deal with the threat of hurricanes and other weather events constantly. To that end, I have included this LINK which will explain what we are expected to face in this upcoming hurricane season and why. Due to the change in this weather pattern, more hurricanes will likely enter the Gulf of Mexico as opposed to the last couple of years. As we all know, it is not a matter of if, but when we will face another storm. I am working with the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium to hold an open workshop for you to attend which will help you be best prepared for these weather events. I have attended this program, not expecting to learn very much since I have been preparing for hurricanes all my life. I was surprised and pleased to learn just how wrong I was. I am working on getting this program scheduled for early March and will keep you posted on the date. In conjunction, I will also have experts talk to you about homeowners and renter insurance and emergency response issues during hurricane events. PLEASE be thinking about this and plan to attend. There are few things you will do more important than this. Should you have any concerns or need my assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is a LINK on my website to report an issue or you can email me. You can always text or call me as well. Please have a safe and blessed week.
January 24, 2024 Good Morning Everyone! I apologize for the delay in getting this newsletter to you. My computer has been down and I just got it back online last night. Our next Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting is February 6, 2024. The agenda and packet will not be completed until next week. I will send the links for those in my next newsletter. On Friday, January 19, 2023, I was privileged to attend and speak to the block captains for our Waveland Neighborhood Watch. We have some exciting things happening there. If you do not have a block captain yet for your neighborhood, please volunteer or speak to a neighbor about volunteering. It is a simple process that takes a minimal amount of time to set up and is vital to the safety and wellbeing of every resident of your neighborhood. You can send me an email or a text to volunteer and I will pass the information on. On Sunday, February 4th is the 56th Annual Krewe of Nereids Parade. Come out early and make a day of it. It promises to be a great parade again this year. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
January 14, 2024 Good Morning! In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day, all city offices will be closed tomorrow, January 15th, and reopen on Tuesday, January 16th at 8:00 AM. The next Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at City Hall, 301 Coleman Ave., Waveland. For your convenience, here is the AGENDA and the accompanying PACKET for that meeting. The meeting will be live streamed on YouTube and will be archived with previous meetings for your casual review. If you are a Mardi Gras parade goer, the Pass Christian parade is Saturday, January 27th and rolls at 1 p.m. The Waveland Nereids Parade is Saturday, February 4th, which rolls at noon. Even if you do not plan to attend the parade, please remember we will have thousands of visitors in Waveland. Please be careful if you venture out, as we all know how careless some revelers can be at Mardi Gras. There are many more parades scheduled on the Coast, and you can find their full schedule HERE. There will be no Planning & Zoning meeting this month, as there were no new applications for conditional use or variances filed. We have a hard freeze coming our way on Tuesday, so I encourage you to prepare your pipes, bring in your plants and pets. If you have a city utility emergency, you can call during regular office hours, Monday through Friday 8 PM until 4:30 PM. at 228-467-4134, or after-hours emergency, please call Central Dispatch at (228) 255-9191. Please remember, if your pipes are not insulated and you run the water to keep the pipes from freezing, you will more than likely see a slightly higher water bill. It is always better to make sure your pipes are insulated from the freeze. Should your power go out, please call your electric provider right away - do NOT wait! For Mississippi Power, you can either call 800-532-1502, or visit their outage map. For Coast Electric, you can either call 877-769-2372 or visit their outage map. If you have elderly neighbors, please check on them to make sure they have everything they need to stay warm and safe. If you have not already done so, please sign up for Code Red to receive emergency alerts from Waveland and the County. As a reminder, if you are interested in signing up for curbside recycling, please fill out this questionnaire. Coastal Environmental Services is looking for a minimum of 1,500 households countywide to sign up to provide this to you. The deadline to sign up is March 1, 2024, and service will begin on July 1, 2024, if the minimum number of households is met. The fee for the service is $33 per month, and the full amount for the year must be paid upfront. Again, this is a subscription service being offered and is not required for you to participate in the program. Thank you for your continued support. It is an honor to serve you and all the citizens of Waveland. If you are in need of my assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
January 9, 2024 Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone got through the storms last night unscathed. The next scheduled Mayor & Board of Alderman meeting is scheduled for January 17, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can tune in live at City of Waveland, MS This is the official YouTube Chanel of the City of Waveland, MS where you can find the meetings of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen, as well as the City of Waveland Planning & Zoning meetings. www.youtube.com Below is the link to sign up for recycling. I wanted to remind everyone that the contractor will need 1,500 households to sign up for recycling pickup for the services to begin. The deadline for signing up is March 1, 2024. If 1,500 households sign up, services will begin on July 1, 2024. I have heard some comments regarding the cost. Recycling has become a frustratingly complicated issue. The city nor CES make money on recycling. As a matter of fact, CES will need two recycling collection trucks to collect recycling across the entire county. Each truck costs $420,000.00. It will cost them an additional $100,000.00 to purchase 1,500 collection bins for the minimum required households to initiate collections. None of this includes the additional personnel or their associated expenses. So, when considering whether or not to sign up for this service, please take these facts into consideration. Also, remember that the reason the county pulled out of recycling in the first place was due to the overwhelming cost, not only to those who used the services, but also to those who didn't. As of today, only 36 households have signed up, 16 of which are in Waveland. If you are interested, please sign up asap at the link below and please share the link with any of your friends or neighbors who may be interested in signing up as well. Coastal Environmental Services | Recycling Form (ces-ms.com) A number of people have been inquiring about McAllister's. The latest update I have received is they are moving forward with their plans to open in the old Rite Aid building. No estimated open date has been given. We will have a new business coming into the space next to Dirt Cheap. Harbor Freight has submitted their plans to the city. As of this time, I do not have an estimated open date, but will keep you posted. Things have been a bit hectic since the first of the year. Last week Mayor Trapani and I attended the Legislative Reception in Jackson hosted by the Gulf Coast delegation. Sunday, I was honored to attend a prayer service in the garden of the Governor's Mansion and a Tea that followed. I am leaving for Jackson again today for MML (Mississippi Municipal League) training this week. These trips have been very productive. We have been reintroducing Waveland to the rest of the State as an active participant in local and state affairs. This has garnered attention for our beloved city. We have a great opportunity at this time to greatly improve our town and our standing in the County and State. I am so honored to be a part of that. There are great things on the horizon for us. I have always believed that if we stay on top of the issues and things we can control, that those things we can't control will be easier to address. Although I have experienced some frustration because things don't move as quickly as, or in the manner, I think they should, I remain positive and optimistic. To that end, I ask that you pay attention to the agendas for ALL meetings. Go through the packet for each agenda to see exactly what is being asked for, what is being voted upon, etc. Ask questions. I look forward to hearing from you! Have a wonderful blessed week!

September 10, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! As probably almost everyone knows, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen have been meeting to discuss the proposed budget and tax millage increase for the fiscal year 2023/2024, which will begin October 1st. Many things were explained during last week's meetings and workshop so that everyone understands exactly what this involves and why it is needed to maintain the operations of the City of Waveland. If you were not able to attend the meetings or workshop in person or view them as they were streamed live, you can do so at the following links: Tuesday, September 5th - First Regular Monthly Meeting Wednesday, September 6th - Budget Workshop Thursday, September 7th - Special Meeting / Public Hearing As I encouraged everyone to attend and ask questions during last week's meetings and workshop, I want to encourage you to view the videos so that you can hear directly from your elected officials and end the speculation, misinterpretation, and misinformation that was being discussed amongst people on social media. Contacting me or your other elected officials ahead of time with your questions or concerns can give you firsthand information and understanding to dispel the rumors. Once you have watched the videos, if you have any questions, again, I ask that you let me or the other elected officials know. With that being said, there will be a Special Meeting this Thursday, September 14th, at 6:30 PM to adopt the budget and to set the new millage rate. The meeting is open to the public, who are encouraged to attend. All city meetings and workshops are also streamed LIVE on the City of Waveland YouTube channel. At the Tuesday night regular meeting, the Board approved the installation of Hancock County's first Safe Haven Baby Box, which will soon be set up at the Central Fire Station on Highway 90. We are very excited to have this life-saving option here in Waveland. You can find out more about the program when you watch the video of Tuesday's meeting or read about it in this Sea Coast Echo newspaper article. I have received some inquiries recently about the repair status of the Garfield Ladner Memorial Pier. The process is proceeding as scheduled, and we are currently seeking bids for a contractor to perform the work. The bids must be submitted by 5 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Thank you again for your continued support. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know. Please continue to check my website: www.ragamble.com, and follow my Facebook page for frequent updates and other helpful information.
September 7, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! There will be a Public Hearing of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen tonight at 6:00 PM to discuss a proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase and proposed budget for the 2023/2024 fiscal year. The meeting will be held in the meeting room at City Hall, located at 301 Coleman Avenue. All meetings are open to the public, who are strongly encouraged to attend, ask questions, and get direct answers regarding this matter. There have been a lot of misconceptions and misinterpretations of the proposal so it is very important for the residents of Waveland to understand the process and exactly what this will mean to them. A workshop was held last night on this subject. If you were not in attendance or did not view the livestream, you can watch this YouTube Video to find out what was discussed and explained. Again, it is very important for everyone to understand what a millage rate is and what the millage value is for each city as set by the Hancock County Tax Assessor. The City does not set the value of each mill. So please watch the workshop video, attend the public hearing tonight, and ask your questions to receive answers and clarification. If you are unable to attend tonight or if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, as always, let me know, and I will be happy to answer them or address them during tonight's meeting. My contact information is listed below. Thank you for your continued support.

Again, it begins at 5:30 PM tomorrow in the meeting room at City Hall on Coleman Avenue. I apologize for any confusion that may have caused.

August 1, 2023 UPDATE!! FYIPlanning & Zoning has added some actionable items to their agenda for 5 PM. Although they are not having to take action on the cannabis issue, they will be approving minutes from previous meetings. Tuesday, August 1, 2023 The actions of the recessed meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission that was scheduled for tonight at 5 PM. will not take place. The applicant for the marijuana cultivation project has withdrawn their application. The commission will need no action. The Commission will open the meeting and then close with no additional actions being taken. It is still a public meeting if you wish to attend the opening and closing of the meeting. July 30, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! First, I want to remind everyone of today's Back to School event at the Waveland Lighthouse. The event is from 10 AM until noon. However, the firefighters and police officers will remain as long as they can after that time. Also, the FREE snowballs will still be handed out until the 200 are obtained. Everyone of all ages is invited to come by and meet your firefighters and the police officers who protect us every day, and also your elected officials. While on the campaign trail during the election, I was met with constituents who had a recurring concern about the vision for the future of our city, and specifically the way that people were being granted things that could potentially harm the vision for the city, or that goes against the city's Zoning Ordinance. I continue to receive these concerns as residents attend or view the Planning & Zoning meetings. Again, that was the situation from last week's P&Z meeting regarding the granting of variances and the possibility of granting a medical marijuana cultivation use in a small building that can be accessed from both Hwy 90 and Old Spanish Trail. The P&Z meeting recessed the other day and will reconvene this Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 5 PM. Here is the meeting Agenda and the Information Packet. If you would like to view the last meeting, it is available through the city's YouTube Channel. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, let me know. Following the Tuesday night P&Z meeting, the first regular monthly meeting of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen will take place at 6:30 PM. Here is the Agenda and the Information Packet. All meetings are open to the public and are streamed LIVE on YouTube. As always, I encourage everyone to attend the Planning & Zoning meetings and the Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings to see what is happening. Food Truck Friday is held this month on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 5 PM until 8 PM on Coleman Avenue. During this popular event, you'll find great food, fun, and friends every month. The second regular monthly meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 6:30 PM. When the meeting agenda is completed, I will send it to you. If I can help you, or if you have questions or concerns, please let me know or come to the meetings to address them. Thank you for your continued support as we make Waveland a better place for everyone to live and visit.
July 26, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! Just a reminder that school starts back on Monday, July 31st. Please be mindful as you are driving through the neighborhoods because there will be children walking to and from school, as well as waiting at their bus stops. The children are excited, and we want to make sure they have a safe school year without any accidents. As you know, they are often not paying attention to traffic, so we have to be extra cautious. With this being the last weekend for the children before school, I'd like for you to join me this Sunday, July 30th, from 10 AM until noon at the Waveland Lighthouse for a Back to School event. With the help of Bayou Snowballs Waveland, we will be giving the first 200 kids a FREE snowball. The Waveland Fire and Police Departments will be there to meet the public and give the children a great back-to-school send-off. The kids and adults, if you'd like, can wear their bathing suits and enjoy some water fun from the fire department's ladder truck which will be on hand. Other items are available for sale at the snowball stand. Bayou Snowballs Waveland is set up in the parking lot every weekend, Friday through Sunday, from 1 PM until 7 PM. Please come and enjoy the excitement. Bring your family, friends, and kids of all ages, and let's have a great morning at the beach!
July 23, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! If you haven't yet visited Bayou Snowballs at the Waveland Lighthouse, do yourself a favor and go get a cold treat on these hot summer days. Locally owned and operated, they are there and open every Friday through Sunday, offering snowballs, soft serve ice cream, soft drinks, water, soft pretzels, corn dogs, and much more. For those who may have allergies to dyes, they even offer dye free snowballs with the same full delicious flavor. As a reminder, visit my website and Facebook page for frequent updates, important information, and helpful links. Thank you for your continued support, and if I can help you, let me know.
July 16, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! Living in Waveland, we are all partial to it and the beauty we see daily. But in a recent article in the Biloxi Sun Herald, Waveland was ranked amongst the 100 Best Beach Towns in the United States! Out of the 6,397 public beaches across the country, Waveland was ranked 53, outranking Gulfport at number 81, as well as Gulf Breeze, FL (number 83), Hilton Head, SC (number 97), and four Hawaiian towns. It's a great honor to be in the top tier of this survey. This Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 6:30 PM, is the second regular meeting of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen. Here is the Agenda and the Information Packet. The meetings are open for everyone to attend and are streamed LIVE on the City's YouTube channel for those who can not attend in person. July 9, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! At this past week's Board of Mayor & Aldermen's meeting, Mayor Trapani gave an update on the Garfield Ladner Memorial Pier repair process. As you already know, Chiniche Engineering and Surveying was awarded the engineering contract to oversee the repairs. Their design process for the repairs is nearly complete and will be presented to the Board for approval, at this time, the City will advertise for a construction company to perform the repairs. Because of the advertising time frame required for this project, the bid process will be completed by the end of summer, and the Board will select a contractor to begin the repairs soon thereafter. Food Truck Friday on Coleman Avenue is Friday, July 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This family-friendly event is where you'll always find food, fun, and friends. Come enjoy a night on Coleman Avenue. The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen will take place on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 6:30 PM. I will forward you the agenda and information packet when it is completed. As a reminder, we are in Hurricane Season. Have you made a plan and prepared in case a storm were to head our way? Visit my website, where you will find a Hurricane Preparedness section with helpful links and tips to ensure you are ready when Mother Nature gets angry. Prepare now, and save yourself time and headaches later. If I can help you, please let me know. As always, thank you for your continued support. I'm proud to serve as your Ward 1 Alderman. Together, we are making a better Waveland for everyone to live and visit.

As we head into the 4th of July holiday, I wish everyone a safe and Happy Independence Day! Enjoy the time with your family and friends as we celebrate the freedoms given to us by our founding fathers. If I can help you, please let me know, and I thank you for your continued support of me as your Ward 1 Alderman and for the betterment of the City of Waveland. Together we are making a positive change for everyone to live and visit.
June 22, 2023 Due to a death in my immediate family, I cannot respond to emails, calls, or text messages until after Sunday, July 2, 2023. Thank you for your understanding during this time of loss in our family.
June 18, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! Tomorrow, June 19, 2023, at 6:00 PM, is the regular monthly meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission. It's important for citizens to be aware of what is being planned and recommended throughout your city. If you are unable to attend in person, the meeting will be streamed LIVE on the City's YouTube channel. Videos are available there as well if you missed previous meetings. Here is the Agenda and the Information Packet. On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 6:30 PM, the Board of Mayor & Aldermen will meet for the second regular meeting for June. Here is the Agenda and also the Information Packet for you to review. If you have questions, comments, or concerns let me know. As with the P&Z meetings, the Board meeting will be streamed LIVE on YouTube and previous meeting videos are available. Just a few reminders about day to day happening here in the city: When you clean debris from your yard, you MUST put it in front of your house. Many people have been putting their debris in front of a neighbor's yard or in front of vacant lots. The debris removal company's contract allows them to pick up trash and other debris which are in piles and are too large to be placed in the garbage receptacle, from residences that have a trash account. The city is NOT responsible for picking up your debris. It is the responsibility of the contractor. Therefore, please put your debris in front of your own property in order to assure its removal. The company has a debris removal route that comes to each neighborhood only once every two weeks. However, if you call their number and report that you have debris in front of your home, they will come and pick it up. Here is the link for the pickup schedule: https://ces-ms.com/bulk-pickup-schedule-for-hancock-county/, and here is the telephone number to call to report (228) 299-0537 or (866) 536-8283. Golf carts are illegal to drive on Beach Blvd., as this is a county/state road and does NOT fall within the Waveland ordinance. The same goes for Bay St. Louis. The county has chosen not to enforce this law, and we would like to keep it that way. Therefore, if you are driving your golf cart on Beach Blvd. and a vehicle comes up behind you that is going faster than you, as soon as you get a chance, please pull over and let them pass, and then pull back onto the road. Now that school is out, I want to remind you that no unlicensed person is allowed behind the wheel of a golf cart, even in the presence of a licensed driver! When you do not obey the ordinances, it makes it difficult for everyone. Please obey the laws and stay safe! Last, but certainly not least, I would like to wish all of the fathers out there a very Happy Father's Day. I hope each of you has a great day filled with the ones you love. Please follow me on Facebook and visit my website, www.ragamble.com, for regular updates. Thank you for your continued support. If I can help you please let me know.

May 21, 2023 Good Morning Everyone! There are some new and exciting things taking place in Waveland! At this past week's meeting of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen, two beach vending bids were accepted to allow each vendor a one (1) year contract to operate in the parking lot of the Waveland Lighthouse. I'd like to welcome Bayou Snowballs of Waveland and Bayou Treats, who will offer snowballs, snacks, water, and soft drinks for beachgoers and other patrons. Currently, they intend to operate on the weekends but plan to expand the days of operations as business increases. Stop by and meet the owners, who are all local, and enjoy some summertime goodies. This past Friday, Buccaneer State Park had the ribbon cutting for their new Splash Island feature at the water park. The new section, which is geared towards younger and smaller visitors, features three size-appropriate waterslides, 26 interactive spray features, two giant tipping buckets, and six cabanas! It shows throughout the City, and we are proud to have you as part of our team. Please let me know if you have anything I can help you with. Thank you for your continued support. I'm proud to be your voice and representative on the Board of Aldermen.
April 25, 2023 Good Evening Everyone! Throughout my campaign and meeting with people on various occasions, one of the topics that came up frequently was the concern of containers being used for residential and storage uses. Since taking office in January, there have been several requests for these uses that came before the Board. At a recent meeting, I asked that the City Attorney bring the Board a temporary moratorium restricting any new applications for and the approval of containers, such as metal shipping containers and the like, to be placed on hold until such time a viable solution be found. At last week's Board of Mayor & Aldermen meeting, the temporary moratorium was presented to the Board, and at my motion for approval and a unanimous vote by the Board, a temporary (180-day) moratorium was adopted as a new ordinance taking effect immediately. Attached is the approved moratorium for your review. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, let me know. Please continue to follow me on Facebook and check my website for regular updates. Thank you again for your continued support. Together, we are building a better Waveland for everyone.

March 8, 2023 Good Afternoon Everyone! To all the supporters who have reached out to me, both during last night’s meeting and today, I want to thank you. Thank you for your continued support. Thank you for understanding what our ordinances say. Thank you for recognizing what I am doing as your Alderman by standing up for the best interests of you and the entire City of Waveland and voting NO when it comes to things that are important and against the betterment of the city. I am not against growth in Waveland, I am against granting exceptions for something that was created by the individuals and is at no fault of the city. I, along with the people I spoke to during the election campaign, want positive growth that is in accordance with the vision of our city that we have fought for and want to see preserved. We can not, nor should we, allow things to take place simply because “it’s always been that way.” It may have taken place in the past, but I will make every effort to prevent the wrongful past from becoming part of a rightful future for Waveland. I have never been, nor will I ever be, part of the “just go with the flow” status quo, good ole boy system. We, the ENTIRE Board of Mayor & Aldermen, were elected to make the tough decisions when called to do so. And as I said throughout my campaign, I’m not afraid to do so. Again, thank you. I’d like to suggest that for those who are not in Ward 1 you contact your Alderman and express your concerns about how they are handling the future of Waveland. Let your voice be heard now. Don’t wait. My strong voice will be heard for all to hear. You can find the elected officials' contact information on my website: www.ragamble.com. If you’d like to view last night’s meeting, please click this link: https://www.youtube.com/live/V2no_eGlEQ8?feature=share Please share the message. If I can assist you with anything, please let me know. No matter which Ward you live in. Together, we can build a better life for everyone in Waveland.

The City of Waveland is fortunate to have Sugar Pop Baking Co. as one of its businesses. They are located at 345 Coleman Avenue inside of the Ground Zero Museum. Currently they are in FIRST place in this round! You can vote for them by taking the Sun Herald Poll. You can vote as many time and as often as you'd like. Questions have been asked about the red flags placed in yards by AT&T as they add their fiber optic lines. The flags must remain in place for now, even if they are no longer working on your street, so they can GIS locate and map where the lines are. Once that work is completed, they will remove the flags. We have also received reports of holes being dug and not filled properly after the lines were laid. If you are having this problem, you can report it through either my website or the City's website. The next regular meeting of the Board of Mayor & Aldermen will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 6:30 PM. When the agenda has been set, I will send it out for you to review.
